Built in 1977 on a $1,000 piece of land, the Grand Ole Osprey was the first home to be assembled in this part of Ocean Sands. Originally purchased by a young medical professional, Dr. Desmond Longford and his wife Rosemary. Legend has it that they would have built it on the ocean but those lots were a whopping $2,000 each and were out of reach to the couples budget. The Grand Old Osprey is a rare and unique style Dutch Lindall home found more often in northern US regions such as Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Bar Harbor, Maine. In the 1970’s, these homes were sold as kits in Duck, NC and were considered a high quality, pre-fabricated home built with most plumbing and electrical pre-installed in the walls. This home has seen plenty of heavy weather patterns throughout the decades and still stands strong to this day. The Grand Ole Osprey is totally unique and a perfect location just footsteps away from the beach. Come see for yourself what a true North Carolina beach house is all about!
